Kristina Teuschler

Clarinetist Kristina Teuschler is a first-generation American, a child of Jamaican and Brazilian immigrants. She is passionate about molding the classical music world to be more reflective of the mixed American culture. She grew up in Madison, Wisconsin and lives in New York City.

Kristina joined the West Point Band in 2018, one of the four prestigious US Army special bands, and performs with the group throughout the Hudson Valley and New York tri-state area. In addition to this full-time job, she is a versatile musician that performs with a variety of ensembles of varying genres; from symphony orchestras, to indie bands, to contemporary ensembles. She has performed with the New World Symphony and Bang on a Can All-Stars. She enjoys performances that are politically engaged as with The Dream Unfinished, as well as experimental and genre-bending in collaborations with indie-pop project, twig twig.

Kristina holds degrees from Northwestern University and Manhattan School of Music. Her primary teachers were Mark Nuccio, Steven Cohen, and J. Lawrie Bloom.

An experienced educator, she has worked in classroom settings with several after school music programs including The Chicago Metamorphosis Orchestra Project, The Harmony Program, Youth Orchestra of St. Luke's, and Washington Heights Expeditionary Learning School. Her private students have excelled, attending LaGuardia High School, Interlochen Arts Camp, and moved on to become college music majors.
